Invite a friend and plan now to attend REAM's 2019 annual statewide meeting on November 12 at Springhill Suites in Devens, MA. We will be hosting two town hall style discussion session on two very important and relevant issues (Social Security offsets and keeping health care affordable as well as provide a session of workshops for attendees.  All topics/workshops are new this year! 

Town Hall Discussion Session: This year we are fortunate to have some great speakers joining us to lead important discussions on two separate issues that affect the retirement security of retired public sector employees.  

  • Social Security Offsets (WEP/GPO) and the future of Social Security: Offsets to Social Security effect millions of public service retirees.  Over the years, various bills and conversations about how to fix the issues have been discussed.  The time for action is now with Representative Richard Neal's new WEP bill H.R. 4540 gains momentum.  This session will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about the specifics of the new bill, provide feedback to those who are working closely with Representative Neal on the bill and provide clear action steps for moving this bill forward.  Speakers to include Tim Lee, Executive Director for the TX Retired Teachers Association 

  • Positively Impacting Lives Throught Advocacy: Overview of AARP's priorities, recent successes and ways to get involved.  Presented by Jessica Costantino, Director of Advocacy, AARP Massachusetts

Key Note Speaker: Setting Your Compass: Successful Strategies for Making Informed Decisions about Care for You or a Loved One within a Fractured Health Care System.  This presentation will help participants understand what questions to ask and of whom, and determine where to find critical information when they must navigate complex healthcare systems.  Participants will earn key tools and documents needed for ensuring their plans and wishes regarding treatment are honored.  Our keynote speaker is Kim Bennett Murray, a Licensed Social Worker at Harbor House.

Registration & Coffee begins at 9:30 am, workshops begin at 10:00 am.  Workshops Sessions will end by 2:30 pm.
